Kiwanis members come from all walks of life.Some are significantly different from the average Joe or Jane. Matt Tuttle qualifies as interesting. He grew up in California in entertainment.Google his parents and go on a tour of big names in mid-1900’s Country Music. Here is some of Matt’s story.
Matt lives in the Charlotte area.He left California in 1996 and moved to Washington, where he opened a coffee roasting company in Port Angeles.Matt and his wife retired in 2017 and moved to North Carolina. They rented a house in Seven Lakes in the summer of 2019 and fell in love with our area.He immediately purchased a second home here.When COVID came knocking, he and Susie, his wife, decided to spend the pandemic here.
Matt is motivated by the people around him and quickly reaches out a hand to help.He came to Kiwanis and was impressed with the work we do with children.
He has been active in supporting Terrific Kids and his woodworking skills are an asset to the Kindergarten Birdhouse project. He has stepped up to participate in Leadership and is currently the President Elect.Matt can also be seen at Kiwanis Bingo calling the numbers!
Matt has diverse interests and skills.He is an avid Motorcycle rider and member of two different HOG (Harley Owners Group) chapters. He is also active with the Freemasons and has done work to support the Shriners hospitals.
So now he is a normal retired guy, enjoying his hobbies and contributing his time and talent to helping others. Those early years – interesting. Matt was born in Hollywood CA to western recording stars Wesley and Marilyn Tuttle.
Growing up surrounded by entertainers he learned a lot including how to play instruments and sing. Matt spent most of his days at the ranch of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans while they were working with his parents.
He recorded his first album at the age of nine with his family and traveled the country during the summers performing with the family. Matt learned finish carpentry in his teens and went to work for Universal Studios building sets for a few years before moving into the payroll dept.
He also worked as a professional Magician for 20 year’s doing private parties for adults and corporate functions.So, Matt has a few tricks up his sleeve!A smiling happy guy who contributes generously of his time to Kiwanis activities.
