This will be a particularly special day for me as Miss Sandhills as I have the opportunity to “take over“ the official Miss North Carolina social media pages.
This will allow me to network with over 26,000 followers during the day, and being a small part of your event will enable me to share my servant‘s heart in action while also advertising your organization and mission on a large-scale platform across our state.
I could think of no better way to wrap up such a special day than to celebrate alongside you as you raise funds for our esteemed veterans to continue to fund the Seven Lakes Wall Of Honor on June 4th!
Julia DeSerio is a third-year teacher presently at Crest Middle School in Shelby, North Carolina where she teaches chorus and piano. Julia has been involved with many community organizations; most proudly the Boys & Girls Clubs, the YMCA, and the Salvation Army. She has presented at both the North Carolina and Alabama Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference, been interviewed by Education Today for her work in music education during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was nominated for Beginning Teacher of the Year for Cleveland County Schools.
Julia‘s passion for arts education advocacy led her to the Miss America Organization in November of 2019, where she earned the job of Miss Gastonia and built her social impact initiative, “Art: The Highest Form of Hope.“
Last summer, she earned a top 10 placement at the 2021 Miss North Carolina Competition and nearly $11,000 in scholarships.
She feels blessed to be returning to the Miss NC stage as Miss Sandhills this June to vie for the coveted opportunity to serve our state and represent North Carolina at the Miss America Competition in December.
