If you live in Seven Lakes and haven‘t tried Friendly Mart‘s scrumptous fried chicken… you‘re in for a fabulous suprise.
A good piece of fried chicken has to achieve the difficult balance of being crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Not all fried chicken is done right. Friendly Mart‘s chicken is hand-battered, hand-breaded, and bursting with bold North Carolina flavor, and “done right.”
Chicken fried to perfection by highly experienced cooks, Janetta Dobord, from Robbins and Charlotte Kennedy from Eagle Springs. Janetta has been cooking for owner Randy Merritt for over ten years and Charlotte for twenty years. They say they are one big happy family.
You can tell something‘s going right when customers begin to line up and order starting at 11 am.
“I eat here all the time… the chicken‘s great“, says customer Curtis Watson.
One of the cooks arrive at the kitchen everday before we‘re up at 5 am to begin preparing the chicken for the day‘s steady stream of customers.
Charlotte said there was a lady in in the store early in the morning that wanted to order the chicken. “They Live For This Chicken“ Charlotte told me.
They order only fresh chicken raised in North Carolina, and hand prepare with special seasoning and spices. Then into the fryer for a specific time which after cooking for this many years it‘s done to perfection.
The fried chicken is sold by the individual piece, (breast, thigh, wing or leg). You can also order side dishes.
They also offer wings original and spicy as well as chicken sandwiches.
